The Police Divers are obviously huge ambassadors of water safety and having been involved in the recovery of Owen we wanted to do something to help Nicola set up the OWEN programme, as water safety is a vital skill that children should be educated in, and ultimately can save thier lives.

Having all decided to run the Robin Hood half marathon together the OWEN programme was the obvious choice for us to support.

Using it to not only try and raise some funds, but also create some awareness in the media of the OWEN programme.

We all put in months of training as did not want to let Nicola and her team down, and on the day without a doubt Owen was in all our thoughts as we ran, I think Pc Mosely beautifully summed up what it meant to us when he presented his finishing medal to Nicola stating we had ran it for OWEN so it was his medal, a moment I won’t forget and was certainly emotional for us all.

Ultimately the work the OWEN programme does could save just 1 child’s life, and if it does that’s a huge success
